The Educational Equity Network (“The Network”) is seeking practitioners who provide educational consulting that is aligned with our vision of supportive, inclusive spaces and learning environments that transform educational practices, dismantle barriers, and foster equity and justice in every aspect of the learning journey. The goal is to establish a consortium of qualified individuals for our educational equity professional learning opportunities. Submissions are accepted year-round, and we continuously review RFIs to identify suitable candidates for upcoming programs.
BACKGROUND: The Network is a project of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and federally funded through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Our mission is to equip education professionals with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to co-create inclusive learning spaces where all students experience authentic belonging, particularly those who have experienced systematic exclusion. Through engaging and reflective experiences, we facilitate difficult conversations about race, equity, inclusion, and systemic oppression, challenging participants to confront and transform educational practices.
AUDIENCE: Our audience primarily consists of preK-12 educators in Wisconsin, but also includes individuals from higher education, youth workers, parents and caregivers, community members, faith-based professionals, and business professionals from both within and outside Wisconsin, as well as from across the United States.
TOPICS: Historically, our learning topics have focused on racial identity and intersectional identities. Some examples include:
Racism and racial aggressions
Southeast Asian experiences
Latine/x experiences
Experiences of the LGBTQ+ Community
Native American and Indigenous people’s experience
Anti-Black racism
Disability as a construct and lived experience
Whiteness as a social and political construct
Healing, self-care, and racial wellness
OBJECTIVES OF OUR LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES: As a result of participating in these virtual sessions, participants will:
Engage in and courageously navigate difficult conversations about race, equity, inclusion, and systemic oppression.
Recognize, understand, and articulate the dynamics and impacts of unjust and inequitable practices in educational settings.
Develop the capacity to transform their own practices to improve equitable outcomes.
Develop the capacity to advocate for systemic change in policies and practices.
