This Pre-Institute is designed specifically for school administrators, staff, principals, and teachers, aiming to deepen their understanding of the Latine student population within educational settings.

This virtual opportunity offers comprehensive insights into the specific needs and obstacles encountered by Latine students. By participating, individuals are encouraged to expand their knowledge and awareness, fostering a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Join us on this journey to enhance educational practices and create positive impacts within our schools and communities.

The following topics will be discussed during this webinar:

  • The Latine population and its diversity.

  • Types of labels and categories.

  • The Latino/a/@/x/e & Chicano/a/@/x labels.

  • Historical overview & legal implication of labels.

  • Services available for students and families.

  • What educators can do to support students.

  • Immigrants and migrants - definitions, misconceptions, and implications.

  • Resources available (Migrant Education Program).

Cost

Participation in the Institute is entirely
FEE-FREE.

A scholarship, funded through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA), has been applied to the administrative and instructional fees.
